chapter1~4


In the book "Hunger Games," the main character name is Katniss Everdeen. She has a younger sister name Prim, who she will do anything to safe her or to protect her, and a mother who is an Apothecary, also she is from District 12. After Katnisss fathers death, she had to take care of her family because her mother was lost of her loved one death, and her sister was too young to take care of the family. To avoid the painful starvation, Katniss would go trade what she had with others, or at black marketing. When Katniss turns 12, she could afford more food to her family by putting her name into the tesserae, where she is risking of her life to bring food to her house.
Every year the Capital have these game called Hunger Game, they treat this event as more like festival, where to all the district it is a survival game. From each district, they must choose a girl and a boy from the tesserae, to come to the arena to come fight each other to death. The reason Capital is putting these event is to show the entire district how powerful they are, also what sacrifice their children have to make over their rebellious. During the game, the last tribute who is alive, receives prize, largely maintaining food; also to his or her district. In higher district children are trained to participate for the game, where lower district they dont have any training.
From district 12, Katiness sister; Prim Everdeen and Peeta Mellark was called to represent their district. When Prim name was called, Katiness was in shock, because out of thousands name that was in the tesserae, where many people name was repeated (Katiness name was repeated 24 times,) Prim was pick. However, Katiness couldnt let her little sister be the participate of the event, because Prim is only 12 years old, and whenever she take her out for haunting, her eyes were filled with tears, but most of all Katinesss loving and protection toward her sister Prim was largely big, so Katiness volunteers to be the girl participate instead of her sister. Another participate, Peeta Mellark is bakery son. Katiness remembers when after her extremely painful her fathers death, she was starved, sick, and was about to die. Right after she was yelled to leave the bakery from Peetas mother, she was way too ill where she was about to sober through her tears and asking for death, Peeta came out and gave two loaf of bread to Katiness. These two loaves of bread gave courage and relief to Katiness. Before they left for arena, they had time to say good-byes to family and friends. She told her mother that she needs to be strong, not to lose her self, and take care of Prim, and that Gale will help them providing food. Katniss never recognized what she and Gale had. They would go haunting together, talk, play, and support each other like a friend, but now here she is not sure she will see him again, she recognize that what they had was love. Since Gale knows Katiness well, he tells her to choose bow and arrow as her weapon, because she is the best at it, also that she will win because she is trained.
On their way to arena, Katiness and Peeta gets to learn what will happen, how they should be prepared by Haymitch; who is a formal winner of his hunger game match. However, ever sense he became the winner of the game, he has been drinking every day and night, where he doesnt function well enough to teach everything to Katiness and Peeta. Haymitch tells them that they must look nice and decent, to try get many sponsors as they can, and with the sponsors, they will get great weapons, food, and anything that will help them to survive and become the winner of the game, also not to resist from anything what the Capital do to them whether they like it or not. While listening to Haymitchs advice, Katiness think how Peeta, who gave her the bread and courage, will fight his very best to kill her.

  1. sorry for posting this late. I didn't get home from shopping till around 7:30, and I started right away, but than I wasn't feeling very good so I took an hour nap.

    Question, is this too long for summarizing?
